Swine flu active in town, but 6 new labs in dormant mode
            Yusra Husain,TNN | Oct 9, 2015, 01.20 AM IST

LUCKNOW: Swine flu cases are being reported but the city has only two virology diagnostic labs, at KGMU and SGPGIMS to detect H1N1 virus which causes the highly contagious disease.

In fact, these are the only labs in the entire state whose test report is considered authentic by the government. Though health department has requested the Centre to sanction virology labs for six more medical colleges in UP, even if they get an approval immediately, it will take at least six months for them to start functioning.
            ...
Doctors said correct and timely diagnosis is key to prevention and treatment of the disease. But, it is difficult at present because the two labs are already conducting around 100 tests daily for dengue and other viral diseases. A test that can be done in a day is taking 2-3 days due to work overload.
