    Gujarat: Swine flu death toll mounts to 88

    Ahmedabad: With swine flu claiming seven more lives today, the death toll in Gujarat since January has gone up to 88, an official statement said.

    Apart from the seven deaths today, 87 new cases were also registered in different parts of state, taking the total number of H1N1 infection cases to 831, the statement said.

      AHMEDABAD: The health department has carried out a study to understand the reasons behind high mortality during the current swine flu outbreak.

        Gujarat swine flu toll 98; Nadda reviews situation

        With swine flu assuming an alarming proportion in Gujarat, Union Health Minister JP Nadda rushed to Ahmedabad today to review the situation.

                    Swine flu kills 3 in Vadodara

                    VADODARA: Three patients suffering from H1N1 died in Vadodara on Friday. While two of them were residents of the city, one patient from Dahod died during treatment here.

                    Those who died in the city include a 66-year-old woman from Manjalpur and a 60-year-old man from Gotri. Both of them died at different private hospitals in the city.                       AHMEDABAD: Swine flu today claimed 12 more lives in Gujarat, taking the toll to 136 since January, while 130 new cases were reported, officials said.

                      Today's deaths were reported from Ahmedabad (4), Surat (3) and one each from Kutch, Vadodara, Navsari, Arvalli and Gandhinagar districts, a government statement said here.

                          Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) health department teams carried out a survey in 12.44 lakh homes of Surat city to detect suspected Swine flu cases on Saturday .

                          In a survey that was carried out door to door and in which more than 5,000 employees of SMC took part, 17,336 people with cough, cold and fever were detected and out of them 5944 people were referred to SMIMER, New Civil Hospital and different urban health centers located in different parts of the city.

                          On Sunday too, the survey continued. On the second day, 3, 47, 949 homes were covered by the teams of health workers and population of more than 16.19 lakh was covered.
