One more swine flu death in city

    Staff Reporter

Bangalore: A 38-year-old woman died of A(H1N1) complications in a private hospital here on Friday, taking the total number of deaths because of swine flu in Karnataka to 39.

With the State health officials refusing to divulge details of A(H1N1) victims and the names of the hospitals where they died and with some deaths being reported late, there is confusion about the exact number of those who have succumbed to the disease.

    Highest number

Karnataka has recorded the highest number of swine flue deaths so far ,with 33 of them in Bangalore alone.

Health officials said they had stopped publicising details of victims to ensure that there was no panic. ?We?re only following the guidelines issued by the Union Health Ministry not to reveal the names of A(H1N1) victims,? a top official said.

Meanwhile, 16 more persons tested positive for the flu, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the State to 570.

All these 16 cases are from Bangalore, the officials pointed out.
