New swine flu cases

NEW DELHI: Thirty-eight positive cases of swine flu were registered in the Capital on Sunday, of which six are children.
According to Delhi Health Minister Kiran Walia, two patients who have tested positive for swine flu continue to remain in a critical condition at Lohia Hospital.

Aside from the rather odd inconsistancy between the two paragraphs, Samrat Pandeya was a 31 year old man who died in Delhi at RML on August 20. He's case #37 in the DB. He was originally reported as Samrat Pandey.Originally posted by Commonground;291326

The 35yo woman turned out to be 38 yo Renu Gupta, case # 36 who also died in RML on August 20th.
Methinks there are some very confused correspondants out there!

Azad blames State CMs for H1N1 fatalities

New Delhi: Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday blamed State Chief Ministers for their slow response to the H1N1 outbreak.
He said this after chairing the State Health Ministers? Conference, which was held to review the National Rural Health Mission (NHRM).
Azad said that very few State Chief Ministers had contacted him. He said, ?I had to chase State Chief Ministers rather than them asking.?
Mechanism needed to monitor health standards
As the health authorities in Delhi confirmed two swine flu deaths, he said each state should have institutional mechanism to monitor health standards.
The Minister also deflected blame after criticism over the handling of the H1N1 outbreak.
A 35-year-old female patient died at the Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital on Wednesday night becoming the first victim of the virus in the national capital.
Thirty one year old Samrat Pandeya, a resident of Gurgaon, who was initially treated at various private hospitals and later brought to the RML Hospital, succumbed to the virus on Thursday morning.

60 patients test positive for swine flu in Delhi, two critical
More swine flu cases surfaced in New Delhi on Saturday with 60 patients, including 28 children, testing positive for the virus taking the total number of H1N1 cases in the capital to 832.
Two swine flu patients, admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, were in critical condition for the third day on Saturday. The 69-year-old man and 12-year-old girl were admitted on September 3.
"The condition of the man is very critical. He was brought to the hospital for renal failure treatment and he also tested positive for swine flu. He is undergoing dialysis and is on ventilator support," N K Chaturvedi, Medical Superintendent of Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, said.
"The girl has a history of epilepsy. She tested positive for swine flu and her condition too is critical," he said.
"Of these 60 samples, 28 are of children. The situation is under control and the government is doing its best to provide treatment to swine flu patients in government hospitals," Anjan Prakash, nodal officer for swine flu management in New Delhi, said.
