Swine flu death toll rises to 4 in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With samples of a patient who died on Tuesday testing positive for influenza A (H1N1) on Thursday, the number of swine flu deaths recorded in Kerala has gone up to four. The patient was admitted with a respiratory disease to Lourdes Hospital, Ernakulam, on August 30.
The samples were forwarded to the Aluva Taluk Hospital and then to the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram, for tests. Contact-tracing and other precautionary steps have been intensified. The number of affected persons went up to 249 with the reporting of two cases each from Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam and Malappuram.
