While the government has been downplaying the dengue menace in Telangana, two more deaths due to dengue were confirmed in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

The victims were identified as 13-year-old T John Winston, and five-year-old K Ruthvika, who died while availing treatment in two different private hospitals. John succumbed to dengue on Tuesday, while Ruthvika, a resident of Lalapet in Secunderabad, died at Rainbow Hospital in Banjara Hills on Wednesday. Reportedly, Ruthvika's platelet count had dropped alarmingly.

A 24-year-old dengue patient died at a private hospital in Kolkata on Friday, even as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee informed the state Assembly that 17 people have died of the vector-borne disease till September 5 this year. She also said that around 10,500 have been affected by dengue in the state.

As per reports, Mamoni Das, a resident of Naryanpur area under North 24 Paraganas district, died in the morning at a private hospital on E M Bypass. While her death certificate shows multi-organ failure as the immediate cause, it also mentions she was suffering from dengue. North 24 Paraganas district, that borders Bangladesh, is one of the worst-affected districts by dengue.

The CM's concern over dengue is justified. After yesterday's Bidhannagar, this time, the eighth grade student of Dangur sacrificed Habra. The incident took place in Hattuba area of Habra.

It is learned that the deceased was a resident of Kamarathuba area. For months, Mala's family lived in a rented house in the Hatthuba area of Ward 1, Habra. Mala Biswas (1) was attacked by fever on Tuesday. He was taken to Habra State General Hospital on Tuesday evening. Mala is an eighth-grader at Kamarathuba Nivedita Girl's School in Habra. Locals claim that if the municipality had gone to the dengue campaign two months ago, this problem would not have happened.

But not just Habra, but this time the Dangu police station has been set up at Basirhat. A resident of Swarupnagar, Basirhat, has been admitted to the hospital after suffering from dengue. Basirhat Harawai: 1 people have been affected by dengue from this block. 3 more people suffering from fever. They were admitted to Basirhat District Hospital. Patients were admitted to hospital with severe pain, nausea, headaches and fever. Meanwhile, the number of outpatients in the district hospital is increasing. On the other hand, blood samples of 3 patients admitted to the hospital were collected and sent for examination. In addition to the injured Tanuja Bibi, five persons, including Firoza Bibi Harawa of Baduria, were admitted to Basirhat District Hospital after suffering from dengue. Basirhat District Hospital Superintendent Shyam Haldar said the common people need to be aware of mosquitoes.

The Chief Minister himself said in the Legislative Assembly on Friday that the dengue situation in the state was in dire shape. However, the chief minister also blamed Bangladesh's epidemic for increasing the number of dengue cases in the state. Mamata said dengue has taken shape in Bangladesh. The maximum number of dengue cases is highest in Bangaon, Habra, in north and south 24 parganas adjacent to the border area. So far, the number of dengue deaths in the state has dropped to six. Then, yesterday and today, there were two more deaths in the state.

A prominent corporate hospital in Hyderabad has issued a death certificate, stating that a 35-year-old man has died due to ‘Dengue hemorrhagic fever with shock, severe metabolic acidosis’. However, officials from the State Health Department said that they have to conduct death audit before concluding it as death caused by dengue.

Though many suspected dengue deaths came to the notice of Telangana Health Department officials, they stated that no dengue death has been reported in the State. A total of 3,670 dengue cases were detected from January 1 to September 8. However, not even a single death was registered in the official records.

Officials earlier said that if a dengue patient suffered from any co-morbid condition such as hypertension, or if Rapid Diagnosis Test is conducted to confirm dengue instead of MAC-ELISA test, and the patient dies, they do not declare it as a dengue death.

Despite the Telangana government downplaying the growing number of dengue cases, the mosquito-borne disease has claimed the lives of two more people in the state. Kommu Krishnaiah, a 55-year-old man from Shanti Nagar, succumbed to dengue fever on Wednesday, September 11, at the Khammam government hospital. He was admitted to the healthcare facility with a high fever a few days ago, The Hans India reported.

On Tuesday, September 10, dengue fever killed a 35-year-old man at Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad. Hospital authorities declared the cause of death of Praveen Kumar Beku, a resident of Quthbullpur, as haemorrhagic fever shock syndrome.

Seven-year-old M Vignesh died of dengue at the Pragna Children’s Hospital on Wednesday night. He was a resident of Rahmat Nagar near Yousufguda. A police case has also been registered under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC against the hospital after his parents alleged that he had died due to medical negligence.

Dr Pankaj Singh, assistant director of Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme in the state, said, ?Three people have died in the state due to dengue till now. A 13-year-old boy reportedly died of dengue in a locality close to Shiva temple here on Friday night.

According to his relatives, the eight standard student was found to be suffering from recurring fever since a week, and he was taken to the CMC Hospital at Vellore in Tamil Nadu a few days ago. While undergoing treatment, the boy succumbed to the febrile illness. The body was brought to Chittoor on Saturday.

Telangana has been plagued with the dengue fever for the past two months. Two more fatal cases have been reported due to the mosquito-borne disease. The death toll has gone up to 56 this year so far as authorities grapple to find ways to combat the deadly fever.

Dengue is transmitted mainly by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which thrives in densely populated tropical climates and breed in stagnant pools of water. The mosquitoes pick up the virus from infected humans ? even asymptomatic ones ? and pass it along to other people through bites. It is dubbed as the ?break-bone fever? and is one of the world?s leading mosquito-borne illnesses and infects as many as 100 million people annually.

TOI reported that according to the government, all these deaths have been put under a list of 'suspected dengue deaths' and is being re-verified by an audit team. But the health department has admitted that there was a spurt in the spread of the virus since June 1, with 10,876 dengue cases reported from across the state.

Dengue fever is an Aedes mosquito-borne viral disease can be fatal, leading to dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) and dengue shock syndrome (DSS)
On Friday, a 27-year-old woman from Sinhagad Road died of multi-organ failure due to dengue shock syndrome at a city hospital. While the hospital authorities confirmed that the death was dengue-related, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has stated that there were five deaths they suspected were caused by dengue this year.

Dr Dhananjay Kelkar, medical director of the hospital where the woman died, said every year there are at least three to four deaths due to dengue. This year too, there were more than 500 cases of dengue and few related deaths.

Jans, Bheera (Azamgarh): Munshi Rajmangal Singh posted at Bardah police station was ill for a week. He was admitted to a private hospital in Varanasi for treatment. He died during treatment during the day on Sunday. Doctors said that he had more dengue fever and jaundice. The deceased Munshi Rajamangal Singh was a resident of Ballia district. There is a furore in the family due to his death, while there is a wave of mourning in the police station. After two minutes of silence in the police station, God was prayed for peace of the spirit. SO Dinesh Yadav, SI Basantlal, Devlal Yadav, Bajrang Mishra, BP Mishra, Shamshad Ali, Raj Bahadur Yadav etc. were present on this occasion.

Mangaluru: A businessman died due to suspected dengueat a private hospital in the city on Friday.

The deceased is Prashanth Saralaya, a resident of Paramogaru in Bantwal taluk. He was admitted to a medical college hospital in the city four days ago. However, officials of the health and family welfare department said they have not received any information about dengue death.
