Surveillance
Case of fever with vomiting and neurological
signs reported from Moodabettu PHC, Udupi
Taluk, Udupi. Thereafter the patients was
admitted and investigated at Karnataka Medical
College. House to house fever survey done.
Patient resides is in the vicinity of the paddy
farms. Water surveillance done as contamination
of drinking water supplies increases the risk.
Bleaching powder thrown on the stagnant water
bodies wherein marshy area and bushes are
close to the vicinity of the residence. Health
education given on sanitation in and around the
house, garden area and the cattle shed.

Surveillance
Cases of fever reported from Village Arpora Nagoa Bardez
Goa, Under PHC Siolim. District RRT investigated the
outbreak. House to house fever survey done. Blood Culture done at Goa Medical College found growth of Burkholderia
Pseudomallei. Restaurant kept under surveillance for 21 days,
for any fever cases. Serum Sample sent to MCVR, Manipal;
result awaited. All cases treated symptomatically. Relevant
health education given.

Control

PHC, Udupitaluk, Udupi. District RRT investigated the
outbreak. Case confirmed at Karnataka Medical college.
House to house fever survey done. Water surveillance done to
prevent contamination of drinking water. Bleaching powder
thrown on the stagnant water bodies wherein marshy area and
bushes are close to the vicinity of the residence. Health
education given on Sanitation in and around the house, garden
area and cattle shed
