    KN/SHI/2018/06/0146 Karnataka Shimoga Cholera 54 cases 03 fatalities
    09-02-18 11-02-18 Under Surveillance
    Cases reported from Village/PHC/CHC
    Mydolalu, Taluk Bhadravati. District RRT
    investigated the outbreak. House to house survey
    done. 07 stool samples and 10 water samples
    collected and sent to Referral Lab at SIMS
    Shimoga. 3 stool samples tested positive for
    V.Cholerae (Ogawa stain) by culture. 7 water
    samples found non portable. IEC done regarding
    safe water drinking and personnel hygiene.
    Halogen tablets was made available to the
    community. All cases treated symptomatically.
    Health education given.

    Borhulla Tea estate. District RRT investigated
    the outbreak. House to house survey done.

    The community consumed water from tubewell
    as well as piped water supply provided by
    PHE. 2 stool sample sent to JMCH showed
    growth of Vibrio cholerae (O1 Ogawa). 5 water
    samples collected from tube well and tap water
    were unsatisfactory for drinking purposes
    (MPN test). ORS distributed All cases treated
    symptomatically. Health education given

      Surge in diarrhoea, cholera cases in Hoshiarpur; two deaths reported

      The number of patients being treated for diarrhoea at the local civil hospital has gone up to 140, from 84 on Sunday.

      Two diarrhoea deaths were reported on Monday and 18 other people have tested positive for cholera here. With this, the number of patients being treated for diarrhoea at the local civil hospital has gone up to 140, from 84 on Sunday. Among the deceased are a 25-year-old woman of Kamalpur Colony and a 50-year-old man from Milap Nagar.

      District epidemiologist Dr Sailesh Kumar said that the woman, who was earlier admitted to a private hospital, was brought dead to the civil hospital on Monday morning. He confirmed that 18 patients have tested positive for cholera while samples of another 54 are being examined.
