    Under Surveillance
    Cases reported from Kandrum and Sarrai villages,
    PHC/Mandal Dumbriguda. District RRT
    investigated the outbreak. Cases are probably due
    to consumption of dead cattle meat. 6 Blood
    samples sent to AMC, Visakhapatnam for testing.
    Results awaited. Animal Husbandry, department
    informed for taking necessary action on
    Vaccination of animal population and other
    activities. Health education regarding adverse
    effects of ingestion of dead animal, given.

      Surveillance
      Cases reported from Village Purunaguda, SC
      Pendapada, CHC/Block Boiparigua District RRT
      investigated the outbreak. House to house survey
      done. 01 blood sample collected. Result awaited.
      All cases treated symptomatically. Health
      education given.

      Anthrax 01 00 11-09-17 Under
      Surveillance
      Cases reported from Village Gadabaguda, SC Upperdecapadu,
      CHC Narayanptna District RRT investigated the outbreak.
      House to house survey done. 1 smear sample collected and sent
      for testing to DPHL, Koraput Result awaited. All cases
      treated symptomatically. Health education given

          Cases reported from Village Chettlamorampalli,
          SC Gownivaripalli, PHC GorantlaAnanthpur.
          District RRT investigated the outbreak. House to
          house survey done. 05 Meat samples and 3
          Cutaneous Swabs collected and sent to Govt.
          General Hospital, Ananthapuramu. On smear,
          Gram positive cocci were found. Smear negative
          for Anthrax bacilli. Culture tested sterile. All cases
          treated symptomatically. Health education given.

            Consumption of stale meat identified as the reason
            The condition of all the five anthrax-affected persons of Pinapadu village of Chintapalli mandal in the Agency area of the district, who were admitted to the King George Hospital (KGH), is stable, in charge Superintendent A. Krishna Murthy said on Wednesday.

            V. Chittibabu (23), G. Appa Rao (60), S. Sanyasi Rao (50), S. Venkateswara Rao (25), Pangi Lakhmi (30) had consumed stale meat of a cow. They subsequently developed ulcers and lesions and were initially admitted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Lothugedda.

              Cases reported from Village Pinapadu, PHC Lothugedda,
              Chintapali Mandal. District RRT investigated the outbreak.
              House to house survey done. Cases had consumed deceased
              cow meat. Out of 5 lesion samples sent to Microbiology
              Department, Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam; 4
              samples were positive for B.anthracis culture. Blood smears
              from cattle found negative for Anthrax bacilli by Methylene
              Blue and Giemsa?s staining. Health education given

                investigated the outbreak. House to house survey
                done. 01 blood sample collected at KGH,
                Visakhapatnam. Direct Smear of Gram stain
                suspected Anthrax bacilli. Blood smears from
                cattle collected, found negative for Anthrax
                Bacilli. Soil and water samples collected sent to
                the SRDDL, Habbal, Bengaluru, Karnataka,.
                result awaited. Health education on personnel
                protection while handling animals, safe burial of
                dead animals, proper disposal of carcass and
                proper cooking practices and stop consumption of
                meat for few months was given.

                  the outbreak. House to house
                  survey done. Ingestion and handling of dead
                  cow meat was the possible cause of outbreak.
                  Direct smear and blood samples collected by
                  the Department of Microbiology, Andhra
                  Medical College, Visakhapatnam were positive
                  for Anthrax. Animal Husbandry,
                  Visakhapatnam was informed for taking
                  necessary action regarding vaccination of
                  animal population and collection of samples for
                  testing. Health Education given to Medical
                  Officer for proper disposal of carcass and stop
                  the consumption of diseased dead animal.

                    burial of dead animals.

                        Simdega: The fatal disease Anthrax has again shown signs of comeback in Jharkhand's Simdega district as two individuals were tested positive on Monday. Both are being treated in the district hospital.

                        Over 200 cases of Anthrax were reported from the district in the last two years, out which 11 succumbed to the disease.

                          blackish hemorrhagic blister with ulcers in
                          finger and palm. Cattle skin and blood samples
                          collected; result awaited. Cattle vaccination
                          being done. Medical camp conducted and cases
                          treated symptomatically. Relevant health
                          education given.
