Cholera raises its head in Aurangabad

AURANGABAD: The first spell of rain has brought along water-borne diseases, including cholera, in the city. The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) here has reported four confirmed cases of cholera, while the laboratory reports of three other patients for the disease are awaited. As many as 34 patients suspected to have water-borne infections were admitted in the hospital this month.
Seven of these patients are undergoing treatment and the remaining 27 have been discharged. Mangala Borkar, head of medicine department at GMCH, said the hospital reported 34 patients with water-borne diseases. Four of them tested positive for the bacterial infection and the stool sample reports of three other patients have been sent for testing...
