Bird flu in Sundargarh; culling from Sunday

Poultry culling would begin at Kacharu village of Kuanrmunda block in Sundargarh district from Sunday after blood samples have tested positive for bird flu.
According to reports, the blood samples collected from the village tested positive for the avian influenza. The samples had been sent to a laboratory in Bhopal.
Death of backyard poultries (domesticated chickens) was reported in Kacharu village on January 2.
Notably, some birds had been found dropping dead at the Indira Gandhi (IG) Park of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) and carcasses of several crows were found around the CISF campus near Bisra Square in December last.
