    Bhopal, Aug 17

Special examination facility of dengue fever has been made available in five medical colleges of the State. To monitor the disease a control room has been opened in JP Hospital premises in State capital whose telephone number is 0755-2552538.

Thirty-two cases of dengue have been identified in various districts of State. To stop Dengue from spreading Health Department has given instructions to all the ground level squad to remain alert and treat patients immediately. Medicines of Dengue are being made available in hospitals and insecticides have been provided for spraying. Public cooperation is of extreme importance to contain this disease because the disease is related to the breeding of aedes mosquito in the house. Health Department has asked the citizens to remain aware about the disease.

    Preventive measures:
Dengue fever is due to Den virus. This virus spreads by the biting of aedes mosquito. This mosquito bites during daytime. When the person suffers from this disease then he runs temperature of 102 degrees to 104 degrees, which remains for 2 to 7 days. Fever is accompanies with severe headache, pain near eyes, pain in the joints, pain in muscles and spots on the body. Facility of treatment of this fever is available in all the hospitals. When a person gets infected by dengue repeatedly then dengue can assume hazardous proportions. Signs of the disease are spots of blood on body, bleeding of gums and reduction in number of platelets in blood test. Such a patient should take treatment in hospital where facility of blood testis available. In five medical colleges of State mainly Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Rewa special examination facility of dengue has been made available.

Mosquitoes, which spread dengue breed in water, kept on the roof of houses in containers and water behind houses. They can breed in water containers, cement tanks, drums, earthen pots, tyres, money plant grown in glass, tray below fridge and tray below the pot. Besides these places these mosquitoes breed on the roof of houses, backyard of houses where rainwater accumulates in broken utensils. If water is seen in container then larvae can be seen in it. These larvae develop into mosquito in seven days. Therefore it is very clear that to check dengue disease it is necessary to stop breeding of mosquitoes. If patients having symptoms of dengue are found in some area then information can be given on JP hospital premises over the phone number 0755-2552538.

16 dengue cases reported in Bhopal

      (Source: IANS)
Published: Mon, 07 Sep 2009 at 15:28 IST

Bhopal: At least 16 cases of dengue have been reported from this Madhya Pradesh capital, a health department official said Monday.

"The number of dengue cases here has touched 16. They have been confirmed through ELISA test at the Gandhi Medical College. However, though the dengue has spread in almost all parts of the city, what is positive is the change in spread of dengue pattern that has restricted the spread of the disease," said District Malaria Officer Padmakar Tripathi.

"Normally, it is presumed that dengue that hits a colony or area affects 50-100 families in a row but this time it is not so. It is just hitting one or two persons at a particular place," he said.

"The department will float a plan to cover urban slum areas where water-logging is rampant and perilous. The department, as of now, is busy in covering affected areas but soon slums of the city would also be tracked down," said Tripathi.

He said that in the past one month, eight people have succumbed to the disease in the state.
