    Directorate, Veterinary Services, Government of Chhattisgarh has issued ‘Bird Flu’ alert in the state after it was confirmed that incident of death of poultry birds in Government Poultry Cricle, Baikunthpur, Koriya was due to avian virus infection.

In the Baikunthpur government farm, chickens and 2000 quail have died for the last few days. Experts say that bird flu may be the cause of a large number of deaths simultaneously. This will be confirmed only after the report of the sample. But after the news of the case spread, there is panic in the entire state about bird flu. Care is being taken at the district level also.

    Investigation has been started in the Government Poultry Zone located at Koni. Also, the entry of common people has been banned. Apart from this, sales have also been banned. This situation will remain for some days to come. The ban will be lifted if everything is found normal in the sample report.

    Lime and drug spray

    Drugs have been sprayed in addition to lime around the poultry farming center. The employees have also been instructed to provide care and food to the chickens etc. amidst complete security. However, there is no possibility of bird flu here.

    It is worth mentioning that in the government hatchery of Korea district headquarters Baikunthpur, selling of cock in a radius of one kilometer has been banned due to outbreak of avian influenza ie bird flu. At the same time, the survey is going on in radius of 3 to 10 km. A team of professors, including deputy directors of four colleges from Raipur, is also working here.
