Sudan: Red Cross Red Crescent Movement deeply concerned about the deaths of Sudanese Red Crescent workers

    Published: 9 February 2015

9 February 2015, Geneva/Khartoum ? The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is deeply saddened to learn of the deaths of two staff and one volunteer from the Sudanese Red Crescent Society. Another volunteer was wounded in the attack.

The group was attacked yesterday by armed men while on their way to Damazin, in Blue Nile State in the south of the country.

The workers were returning from an aid distribution operation in Kurmuk to help people affected by recent violence. They were riding in a Red Crescent vehicle that was clearly marked by the red crescent emblem.
