Sedikitnya 20 rumah warga rusak akibat dihantam angin puting beliung yang melanda Desa Ujung Padang, Kecamatan Aeknatas, Kabupaten Labuhanbatu, Jumat malam.

Keterangan dihimpun dari salah seorang warga Desa Ujung Padang, Indra Simatupang kepada wartawan per telepon, Sabtu (16/8) malam, menyebutkan hal itu. Katanya, kesannya malam itu seperti malam-malam biasa dan tidak terasakan adanya tanda-tanda datangnya bencana.
Namun, saat sebagian warga hendak beranjak ke peraduan, sahutan angin yang menerpa desa mulai keras dan kemudian mulai terdengar suara berderak-derak. Setelah suasana mulai tenang, warga berhamburan ke luar dan mencari tahu sumber suara mencurigakan itu.

Ternyata, ungkap Indra, ada 20 rumah yang mengalami rusak berat, sedang dan ringan. Ada di antara rumah warga yang atap sengnya terbang. Salah satu rumah rusak itu adalah milik Khalifah Israil Munthe.
Camat Aeknatas saat dihubungi wartawan via telepon selular, mengatakan dirinya masih menunggu laporan tentang bencana itu dari Kepala Desa Ujung Padang.

Negeri Lama ibu kota Kecamatan Bilah Hilir yang menjadi kebanggaan warga itu saat ini kondisinya semakin semrawut. Pasalnya, selain parit saluran air di depan puluhan pertokoan tertumpat karena sampah, sebagian lagi para pemilik toko menutup permukaan parit dengan permanen sehingga menyulitkan saat membersihkannya.

Akibatnya, air di parit sering tidak mengalir. Padahal, terletak di depan pertokoan di tengah ibu kota kecamatan. Dikhawatirkan hal itu akan menjadi ’istana’ nyamuk yang akan memunculkan berbagai penyakit, seperti malaria, Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD), kaki gajah dan lainnya.

Menurut beberapa warga, pelaksanaan Jumat Bersih tidak pernah berjalan seperti jauh sebelumnya. ”Jumat Bersih di kelurahan Negeri Lama tidak ada lagi,” kata warga yang tidak mau jati dirinya disebutkan.

Bukan hanya itu, lanjutnya, puluhan bola lampu di jalan provinsi yang ada di pusat kota maupun di sekitarnya sudah putus. Akibatnya, beberapa sudut kota kala malam menjadi remang-remang bahkan gelap.

Lurah Negeri Lama, Siti Ramadhan, ketika ditemui di ruang kerjanya, Kamis, menjawab SIB, mengatakan, pemilik toko sudah diingatkan secara lisan agar membongkar bangunan permanen di atas parit dimaksud untuk memudahkan bila sewaktu-waktu ada perbaikan parit.
