The patient is a 50-year-old female who recently returned to the Philippines from Chicago, the United States, Dr. Remigio Olveda, director of the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), the country's designated hospital for influenza A(H1N1) confirmation, told Xinhua in a phone interview.

Olveda said the patient, who has been hospitalized since May 22, is now recovering well and on longer shows fever-like symptoms.

The identity of the hospital which accommodates the patient is not disclosed.
Olveda said the patient, a Filipino in origin, has stayed in the United States for a long time.
Last Thursday, the Philippines reported the country's first confirmed case -- a 10-year-old girl who also came from U.S.
