    Novel Influenza A (H1N1)
    Utah Public Health
    Situation Report

    05/08/2009
    Updated daily at:
    http://health.utah.gov/epi/h1n1flu/

Status summary as of Friday, May 8:
    Utah:
    Public health is reporting:
    60 confirmed, and

2 probable cases of Novel H1N1 Flu

    o
That is 13 total cases higher than 5/7
The rate of influenza-like illness in Utah is 1.29%, which is lower than the
    Utah outbreak level of 1.72%.
32 cases from Summit County Health District (32 confirmed)
19 cases from Salt Lake Valley Health District (18 confirmed)
2 cases from Weber-Morgan Health District (1 confirmed)
3 cases from Utah County Health District* (3 confirmed)
    * Two are Utah County Health District residents, but were not
present in Utah during their incubation period or illness.
3 cases from Central Utah Health District (3 confirmed)
2 cases from Southwest Utah Public Health District (2 confirmed)
1 case from Southeast Utah Public Health District (1 confirmed)
Utah has begun active surveillance for severe illness associated with Novel H1N1
    Flu.

Today’s large increase in cases is probably due to Utah now being able to do
their own confirmation testing rather than relying upon the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC), Utah’s apparent increase in influenza-like illness,

and larger numbers of people being tested.
