Last update: <!-- #BeginDate format:Am1 -->May 21, 2009<!-- #EndDate -->
In the past few weeks we?ve seen a definite drop in the number of new or suspected cases of the H1N1 virus (swine flu) in South Carolina. We suspect that the worst of our state?s H1N1 outbreak is over, although the virus may resurface in the fall.
We will continue to monitor new flu cases ? not just those involving H1N1, but all strains ? but instead of reporting state H1N1 numbers daily, as we have done since our first case was confirmed in Newberry in late April, we will issue weekly updates through our normal surveillance system.
We?ve also removed the daily H1N1 state tracking map from our site.
