As of August 17, 2011:
The most recently confirmed human case of H5N1 avian influenza was reported to the WHO from Egypt on 9 August 2011.

Since 2003 cases: 564; deaths: 330
Summary
1. The latest human case of H5N1 avian influenza was reported by the World Health
Organization (WHO) on August 9, 2011 and occurred in Egypt.
2. From 2005 to 2007, about 100 confirmed human cases of H5N1 avian influenza
were reported to the WHO annually. In 2008, 2009 and 2010, 44, 73 and 48 cases
were confirmed, respectively. In 2011 (as of August 13), 48 cases were confirmed.
