    The number of new infections marks a steep drop from the 12-week high of 34 new cases recorded on Friday but is understandable since testing drops by about half over the weekend.

    Since the start of the epidemic Slovenia has recorded 1,841 confirmed infections, with the death toll at 111.

    The centre-right government of Prime Minister Janez Jansa says the app is necessary to curb the spread of the infection as the number of new cases escalated in July. The country has so far reported 1,776 coronavirus cases and 111 deaths with 13 new cases confirmed on Wednesday.

    Since 4 March, when the first coronavirus case (COVID-19) was confirmed in Slovenia, the number of infections has gradually increased. On 30 June, the number of COVID-19 cases peaked at 1,613 and 111 deaths.
    Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansza announced on 15th May that his country had managed to "subdue" the coronavirus. Since Friday, EU travelers can visit Slovenia without quarantine.

    Three coronavirus infections confirmed yesterday, no deaths

    LJUBLJANA - Three new coronavirus cases were confirmed in 767 tests carried out in Slovenia on Saturday, bringing the total to 1,495. There were no new Covid-19 deaths yesterday, leaving the death toll at 109, show the latest government data. Two cases were confirmed in Nova Gorica (W) and one in Jesenice (SW). Six people remain in hospital, none of them requiring intensive care. In total, there are a total of 22 active cases at the moment, according to Covid-19 Sledilnik, a data tracker.

    Slovenia has so far reported 1,490 coronavirus cases and 109 deaths. From Monday it will allow gatherings with up to 500 people compared with up to 200 at present.

    Slovenia to open borders for Italians, Montenegrins on June 15

    LJUBLJANA, June 12 (Reuters) - Slovenia will open its borders for citizens of Montenegro and neighbouring Italy on June 15, the government said in a statement on Friday.

    It also said it will from Saturday introduce an obligatory 14-day quarantine for most people coming to Slovenia from 31 states where the epidemiologic situation has worsened over the past weeks, including Sweden, Britain, Russia, United States and Brasil.

    No new Covid-19 cases recorded on Sunday

    LJUBLJANA - None of 211 coronavirus tests conducted in Slovenia on Sunday came back positive, show data published by the government. No new deaths were recorded either. Five Covid-19 patients remain in hospital, but none of them needs intensive care. So far, 1,485 coronavirus infections have been confirmed in the country, and 109 patients have died. A total of 293 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from hospital.
