  • Wales Influenza 2017-18: 12 fatalities

Nearly one person a day is currently dying of flu in Swansea Bay

Twelve people have died in the past fortnight

Nearly one person a day is dying in the Swansea Bay area because of flu.

Figures out today show the regional death toll from the flu crisis has hit 12 in just the last fortnight.

Another 180 people are in hospital battling the symptoms with scores more suspected cases being probed. The numbers have grown by around 50 since last Friday alone.

Morriston, Singleton, the Princess of Wales in Bridgend and Neath Port Talbot hospitals all have flu cases.

Medics say it is likely that levels will remain high for the next few weeks.
