Geneva reports second death from flu

A second patient has died at Geneva’s cantonal hospital after contracting this season’s virulent flu virus.

The patient was an elderly woman who was already suffering from a lung infection.

Jacques-André Romand is the canton’s chief medical officer.

He says this year’s flu is worse than in the last two years—but that year-on-year, almost all deaths from flu are limited to already-vulnerable people, such as the elderly, young children and people with chronic illness.
