A 70-year-old British woman has died of H1N1 Swine Flu in Malta while she was here on holiday while a 26-year-old woman is receiving treatment at Mater Dei Hospital. The Health Department said her condition is stable.
In a statement, the department said the seasonal influenza vaccine has been designed to also cover H1N1, which has made a reappearance.
It encouraged everyone, particularly vulnerable people, to take the vaccine and the usual precautions.
These included avoiding crowds and unnecessary contact with people who had the flu. One should also wash hands regularly.
People who believed they have influenza should contact their doctor and stay indoors.
