RIGA, June 23 (Reuters) - Latvia has registered its first confirmed case of the A (H1N1) flu virus, the Public Health Agency said on Tuesday.
The agency said in a statement that the case was a woman who had visited the United States and Canada and had returned to Latvia via Berlin on June 21.
"Symptoms of the illness were discovered during the flight and after landing she was put in hospital at the Latvian infectology centre, where is she is being treated," the agency said. Latvia is the second Baltic state after Estonia to have a confirmed case of the new flu strain.
