    Health authority for southern Finland says a total of ten people suffering from the virus have been admitted to intensive care in the last two months..


    Three people have died of complications caused by swine flu in the area covered by the Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) since the New Year, according to Chief Physician Asko J?rvinen.

    The health authority say they have treated a total of ten people in intensive care units as a result of swine flu over the past two months. Those most seriously ill from the virus were middle aged or older. The youngest sufferer was 37.

    The seriously ill patients had not received the flu vaccination, Dr J?rvinen said.

    The three victims who lost their lives were between the ages of 55 and 65, according to HUS infection specialist Dr Eeva Ruotsalainen.

    The World Health Organisation officially declared the swine flu pandemic over in August 2010.
