    Institute for Health and Welfare, THL, admits for the first time that it may have been a mistake to vaccinate children against swine flu.

    Senior Terhi Kilpi says in an interview that Sunnuntaisuomalainen
    she would no longer recommend the vaccine for children between 5 and 20 years because of the adverse reactions were detected.

    According to Kilpi was the idea a year ago to svinfluensan was especially dangerous for young people. Then, there was not yet reason to suspect any serious side effects.

    The vaccine has been suspected to be associated with increased narcolepsy among children and adolescents in Finland, Sweden and Iceland.

    THL publishes on Tuesday, an interim report on the relationship between narcolepsy, swine flu and swine flu vaccine.

    The preliminary report says there is a clear connection between Pandemrix-vaccination and narcolepsy if a third unknown "prerequisite" is present, since the vaccine was not found to be faulty. The final report will be ready in August.

    90% (52 out of 60) of those diagnosed with narcolepsy had been vaccinated with Pandemrix. Compared to those not vaccinated (age group 4-19) the increase in risk for narcolepsy was 9-fold, ages 5-15 being the most at risk
