Niels Strandberg, head of SSI, told TV2 News that results for the patients all came back negative. The 12 had been admitted to isolation wards, suspected of carrying the swine flu virus.

Else Smith, head of prevention at the National Board of Health, said that the country is well prepared for any outbreak of the virus, as it has had a pandemic plan in place since the emergence of bird flu a number of years ago.

Denmark has enough doses of the Tamiflu anti-viral drug to treat 1 million patients. While Tamiflu is not a cure for swine flu, the US authorities have reported it to be effective in the treatment of a number of cases.
