    Portugal - Cases of Coronavirus Covid-19 - 2

    The health authorities of the Autonomous Region of Madeira today validated the first suspected case of infection with the new coronavirus, indicating that it is a patient from Milan, Italy.

    “The patient will remain in hospital isolation and biological samples will be collected for analysis”, says the Madeira Health Administration Institute (IASA?DE), in a press release.



    IASA?DE clarifies that the patient was referred to the Central Hospital of Funchal, after clinical and epidemiological evaluation made by the health authorities.

    "This announcement will be updated as soon as the laboratory result is known", he says.

    This situation brings to 60 the number of suspected cases of Covid-19 infection in Portugal, two of which were still under study on Friday, according to the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

    The remaining 57 suspected cases were not confirmed after negative tests.

    Two positive cases of coronavirus in Porto

    The first two cases of infection with the new coronavirus, Covid-19, in Portugal will be two patients admitted to hospitals in Porto.

    The first analyzes of a patient admitted to the Hospital de Santo Ant?nio, in Porto, gave a positive result, JN learned.

    The same happened with another patient who is admitted to the Hospital de S?o Jo?o. This patient is a man who will have been infected in Spain.

    Both cases are dependent on counter-analysis.
