(AFP / File - Bertrand Guay) A fast-food restaurant on the outskirts of Avignon was closed as a precaution Sunday after the suspicious death Saturday of a 14 year old boy who had dined the previous evening in the facility, it was learned from sources close to the investigation, confirming a report of the site of the Dauphine Libere.

The young man from Opp?de (Vaucluse), had dinner with his father on Friday evening in this restaurant chain Quick, located in the commercial Cap Sud, on the N7 on the outskirts of Avignon.

In the hours that followed, the boy and his father were taken from vomiting and severe headaches. The teenager died Saturday.

"It is too early to establish the reasons of death", it was clear from the same source, noting that the boy, poor health, "could have been the victim of a ruptured aneurysm associated with stress and convulsions that accompanied her vomiting.

An autopsy will be performed Monday to determine the causes of death and establish a possible link with the products consumed in fast food, it was further said.

The facility has been closed for an indefinite period. Samples have been made Sunday by investigators from the group gendarmerie d'Avignon, assisted the group health research section of Marseille, who made the inquiry.

Re: Avignon: Fast food restaurant closed after suspicious death of 14-year-old boy - possible food poisoning?

at TV, they said that it was not a food poisoning..
the boy had pulmonary and brain oedema
he didn't feel well at the night , after the restaurant, and was dead at 11 am, in the morning..

L’autopsie de l’ado décédé n’a pas permis de déterminer si son repas avait causé sa mort.

An autopsy, whose results were released Monday, does not rule out nor prove the thesis of food poisoning. "A complementary, bacteriological and viral, "is required to determine if the meal consumed by the young man is the cause of his death.

    "In excellent health"

The young man was in "excellent health" and not suffering from any chronic disease.

Friday night, Benjamin and his family dined at Quick shopping area "Cap Sud", on the outskirts of Avignon. During the night the teenager and his father, who had consumed the same meal, were seized with vomiting and severe headaches. The mother and sister, who did not order the same menu, have suffered no symptoms. Saturday morning, Benjamin died in his home Oppede, in Vaucluse.

Hat-tip all our Francophone newshounds. This has apparently been confirmed as a food poisoning, with several different bacteria detected..
