    Bird flu found in Skåne
Published: Less than 50 minutes ago
Bird flu has been found on a farm for hobby chickens and ducks in Skåne.

About 30 poultry have been killed since bird flu was found on a farm with hobby chickens and ducks in Skurup municipality in Skåne.

The infection was discovered after an animal owner contacted a veterinarian after noticing increased mortality among his animals.

This is the contagious virus H5N1, which since November 2020 has led to well over 2 million poultry being forced to be killed in Sweden.

Last March, around 83,000 laying hens were killed on two farms in Mjölby municipality and one in Linköping municipality.

The virus spreads mainly from wild birds, mainly ducks, to domestic birds.
