Bird flu scare in Serbia

PIROT -- Thursday - One dead swan has been found in Pirot.
According to coordinator of the Pirot Veterinary Inspection, Snezana Stojanovic, the team of veterinarians arrived to the scene quickly and took the bird?s body and sent it to be analyzed at the Veterinary Institute in Kraljevo, where experts will confirm whether the swan was infected with the bird flu.
?This is the regular practice for all birds found in these circumstance and result of the bird flu analysis are expected within the next several days.? Stojanovic said.
The swan was found near the Hydro-Electric plant in Pirot, so a realistic possibility exists that the bird died as a result of an accidental electrocution.
