Rosselkhoznadzor - on the threat of bird flu
16 September 12:16
The Rosselkhoznadzor Administration for Khakassia, Tuva and the Kemerovo Region - Kuzbass informs citizens and heads of poultry farms about the registration in the territory of the Russian Federation of foci of highly pathogenic avian influenza of the H5N1 serotype in the population of poultry and wild avifauna.
To date, outbreaks of a particularly dangerous disease are noted in the following subjects of the Russian Federation: in the Omsk region (24 unsuccessful foci), Tyumen (9 unsuccessful foci), Chelyabinsk (3 unsuccessful foci) and Kurgan (3 unsuccessful foci) regions. In connection with the active seasonal migration of migratory birds, experts predict a further deterioration of the epizootic situation in terms of the disease.
Given the threat of the emergence and spread of the avian influenza virus in the controlled area, the Office reminds residents of the need to comply with disease prevention measures, including:
- to inform the state veterinary service of the region about the presence of poultry in personal subsidiary farms in order to carry out the necessary preventive measures for the existing livestock.
- prevent poultry from walking (going out) outside the yard, exclude contact of poultry with wild birds, especially waterfowl.
- to carry out the sale and purchase of poultry and ornamental poultry in places of authorized trade only if there are accompanying veterinary documents.
- observe the veterinary and sanitary rules for keeping poultry.
- ensure that windows and doors are marked, excluding the possibility of wild and synanthropic birds entering the premises for storing feed and keeping birds.
- store feed for poultry and ornamental poultry in tightly closed watertight containers, inaccessible for contact with wild birds.
- to carry out the slaughter of poultry intended for sale in trade at specialized enterprises.
- if dead birds are found or a sick bird is found on the street, in private households of citizens, it is necessary to immediately inform the state veterinary service of the region at the place of detection or keeping of the bird in order to carry out the necessary measures to test the bird for influenza.
In order to prevent avian influenza in humans, it is necessary:
