  • Kuwait bans poultry imports from Romania

    30.03.10 |
Kuwait authorities have banned import of poultry and related products from Romania and Denmark following a World Health Organisation report identifying bird flu hotbeds in the two countries, KUNA news agency quoted reported, quoted by HotNews.ro. Romanian poultry imports received another ban from Ukraine, on March 16. On the same day, the European Commission passed a decision confirming the risk area set by Romanian authorities around a fowl farm in Letea (Tulcea County), where H5N1 avian flu virus had been found. The EC said in a release that the Romanian national laboratory confirmed on Monday the presence of highly pathogenic avian flue virus H5N1 at Letea. In order to contain the spread of the virus, Romanian authorities have taken control measures under EU legislation. All birds in the avian flu hotbed have been culled, and a 3 km radius buffer zone and a 10 km radius monitoring zone have been set. http://www.nineoclock.ro/index.php?i...20100330-12777
