    Ukraine bans imports of poultry from Romania

    Ukraine bans import of poultry products from Romania. This decision was taken in connection with the official presentation of the International Epizootic Bureau about an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Romania.

    According LigaBusinessInform the press service of the State Committee of Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine, Romania became the first country in Europe, where in 2010 an outbreak of "bird" flu. Around the Romanian poultry already installed 20-kilometer surveillance zone.

    National Laboratory of Romania yesterday confirmed that it was an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1. In order to limit the spread of the virus, the Romanian authorities carry out the necessary control measures, including the destruction of birds at the affected plant, establishment of protective zones within a radius of three kilometers and the zone of intensive survey in a radius of 10 km.
