            Bird flu again in Lubuskie
            Publication: 21/11/2021, 10:26

Avian influenza outbreaks have reappeared in several provinces. It is associated with the autumn migration of wild birds to warm countries. Lubuskie is also one of the provinces where the H5N1 virus appeared among poultry. In our region, bird flu affected farms in the Skwierzyna commune.

            - We have developed methods and procedures for dealing with such a circumstance. We learned a lot in 2016, when the bird flu reached us for the first time, so today we do not panic - says Wojciech Kowalewski, deputy mayor of Skwierzyna.

Poultry farmers are advised to apply appropriate measures to minimize the risk of transmission of the avian influenza virus, including, inter alia, securing feed against the access of wild animals, not feeding poultry outside the buildings where the animals are kept, and the use of protective clothing and footwear on the farm.
