    On September 11, 2023, a peregrin falcon that was found dead was submitted to Kilkenny Regional Veterinary Laboratory. On September 15, 2023 the Irish Central Veterinary Research Laboratory confirmed the presence of avian influenza subtype H5N1 in samples taken from the birds. Pathogenicity results are pending
