Avian influenza has appeared in newer counties
The presence of avian influenza was confirmed by the laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Office in poultry flocks in Hajdú-Bihar and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg counties on Wednesday, Nébih said.

The announcement highlighted that the authorities started killing 14,500 roast ducks and almost 19,500 breeding ducks in Nyíradony and Pátroha. The study was conducted after an increase in mortality on both farms, with a decrease in feed consumption in the latter.

It was reminded that in order to protect the herds and prevent their spread, the national chief veterinarian ordered the compulsory confinement of poultry in the entire counties identified as high risk: Bács-Kiskun, Békés, Csongrád-Csanád, Győr-Moson-Sopron, Hajdú-Bihar, Komárom -Esztergom and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg counties.

Housing applies to holdings where the animals' pens are not protected from above and from the side by birds of adequate strength.

The authority also required that the feed be kept in a closed, covered area and that animals be not allowed to drink from open water. The material used for litter should also be protected from contact with wild birds.

      Nébih stated in his statement.

The Nébih laboratory recently detected the H5N1 subtype of avian influenza in Zsombó, Csongrád-Csanád county, in a herd of 17,400 ducks and in Újkígyós, Békés county. Prior to that, the presence of the virus was confirmed in the animals of two farms in Bács-Kiskun County.

Another epidemic is spreading in Hungary, traces are being found in more and more counties
          Written by Patrik Kovács
          11/26/2020
The laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Office has confirmed the presence of avian influenza in two more counties.

The presence of avian influenza was confirmed by the laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Office in poultry flocks in Hajdú-Bihar and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg counties, Nébih told MTI.

In their announcement, the authorities started killing 14,500 roast ducks and almost 19,500 breeding hens in Nyíradony and Pátroha. The study was conducted after an increase in mortality on both farms, with a decrease in feed consumption in the latter.

Nébih also stressed that the epidemic risk due to migratory wild birds remains high.

It was also recalled that in order to protect the herds and prevent their spread, the national chief veterinarian ordered the compulsory confinement of poultry throughout the counties identified as high risk: Bács-Kiskun, Békés, Csongrád-Csanád, Győr-Moson-Sopron, Hajdú-Bihar, Komárom-Esztergom and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg counties. Housing applies to holdings where the animals' pens are not protected from above and from the side by birds of adequate strength.

However, the agency also required that the feed be kept in a closed, covered place and that animals be not allowed to drink from open water. The material used for litter should also be protected from contact with wild birds.

Those who do not fully comply with the disease control regulations will be excluded from state compensation in the event of an outbreak, Nébih said in a statement.

Hungary has reported an outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N1 bird flu virus at a turkey farm while authorities also found the virus in a dead swan in the country's eastern region, the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nebih) said on Wednesday.

Hungary has reported an outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N1 bird flu virus at a turkey farm while authorities also found the virus in a dead swan in the country's eastern region, the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nebih) said on Wednesday. The outbreak in the county of Bekes led to the slaughter of nearly 5,000 turkeys on a farm where the virus was detected on Tuesday.

On Wednesday H5N1 was also detected in neighboring Hajdu-Bihar county in a dead swan...

H5N1 outbreak in Balmazújváros, Hajdú-Bihar county detected on Dec. 7, 2021. Thousands of ducks will be slaughtered:

A magaspatogenitású madárinfluenza vírus H5N1 altípusát mutatta ki 2021. december 7-én a Nemzeti Élelmiszerlánc-biztonsági Hivatal (Nébih) laboratóriuma a Hajdú-Bihar megyei Balmazújvárosban, egy 42 ezer darabos pecsenyekacsa-állományban. A járvány továbbterjedésének megakadályozása érdekében a szakemberek megkezdték a telep felszámolását.

Bird flu is raging in Hungary: the virus has destroyed new farms
                        agrarszektor.hu Thursday, December 30, 2021 9:45 AM

On December 29, Nébih diagnosed a primary outbreak of avian influenza in a Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county and a breeding duck in Békés County. In both herds, the presence of the H5N1 subtype of the virus was confirmed by laboratory tests.

Egg production has declined and mortality has risen in both the flock of 2,200 domestic chickens and the flock of nearly 13,000 breeding ducks in Biharugra, according to the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih). The suspicion of bird flu has also been confirmed by laboratory tests by Nébih.

The necessary measures have already been taken by the veterinary experts on suspicion. In the case of the Biharugra site, the protection and surveillance zone extends to Romania, so the national veterinarian informed the partner country's chief veterinarian about the outbreak.
