More than 100 animals killed
Previously, the hobby breeder had informed the veterinary office that one of his ducks had died. Subsequently, ten more animals died. On Friday, the confirmation of the Friedrich L?ffler Institute came that it is the bird flu virus. All 100 ducks and 30 chickens were killed by order.
Landesamt gives cautious all-clear
"It is a small poultry population and at a time of year when we do not expect AI (Avian Influenza), which is why I do not think we are at greater risk, not least because of the high levels of sunshine," said the director of the State Department for Agriculture, Food Safety and Fisheries (LALLF), Frerk Feldhusen, in the NDR Nordmagazin cautious all-clear. The virus is relatively sensitive to sunshine and bird migration has not started, Feldhusen continues. The constant statewide controls have so far shown no abnormalities.
