    Affected population The farm breeds game birds (mallards) for hunting purposes. On August 2nd, samples were collected in connection with the Danish surveillance programme for avian influenza. On August 6th, LPAI H5 was detected in these samples. All 1,200 birds (approximate number) on the holding will be killed and destroyed.

    There have been no new outbreaks of avian influenza in poultry in Denmark since the outbreak of low pathogenic avian influenza was detected on 6 August 2016. The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration has implemented the control measures in accordance with the European Union's Council Directive 2005/94/EC. According to the requirements in article 10.4.3 of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Denmark has regained its status as an avian influenza free country on 10 November 2016.
