Hens, guinea fowls and quails. Eighty pieces of domestic poultry will fall victim to the bird flu, which arrived in Lednice in the Břeclav region on Friday afternoon. The report was confirmed by the spokesman of the State Veterinary Administration Petr Vorlíček.

"A new outbreak of bird flu is located in small poultry farming in Lednice in Moravia. Where the breeder reported the death of eight hens, "said a spokesman for state veterinarians.

The inspectors carried out an on-site investigation, issued preliminary measures and took samples, which they sent to the State Veterinary Institute for examination. "It subsequently confirmed bird flu of the H5N1 subtype. There were about eighty pieces of poultry in the breeding, which will be killed, "Vorlíček added on Friday evening.

Veterinarians are currently waiting to determine the pathogenicity of the virus. "Depending on the result, closed areas around the outbreak will be demarcated and extraordinary veterinary measures will be taken," the administration spokesman warned.
