A highly pathogenic strain of the H5N1 avian influenza virus has been detected in domestic geese near the town of Pribram in Central Bohemia. As Czech Radio reported with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture of the republic, this type of virus is spreading rapidly.
The virus was detected in five domestic geese in one of the household farms in the village of Trkhove-Dushniki, the radio station reports on its portal.
This is the 39th case of an outbreak of bird flu this year in the Czech Republic. In connection with the disease, about 250 thousand poultry have been slaughtered in the republic over the past eight and a half months.
Earlier it was reported that the first human death from bird flu was detected in India.
Sergei Voznesensky, Associate Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases of the RUDN University, said that in Russia a vaccine against bird flu can be created within five to six months if the virus is transmitted from person to person. The infectious disease specialist added that now there are no prerequisites for an aggravation of the situation, since there are only a few people who are sick and the infection has not been transmitted between people.
