Bird flu outbreak hits Sweden

Bird flu has broken out at two places in southern Sweden, analysts at the National Veterinary Institute (SVA) report.
News agency TT reports that one infection case involves a wild bird found in the municipality of Vellinge in Sk?ne which has been confirmed as having the bird flu strain H5N8. The second case involves an egg-laying hen flock outside Helsingborg.
Earlier this week, Sweden raised its alert level for poultry to the second highest after an outbreak of bird flu in neighbouring Denmark.
