    Source: https://31tv.ru/novosti/179940/

New threat: a hotbed of bird flu was discovered in the Chelyabinsk region
This was reported by the regional Rosselkhoznadzor department.
    3 August 2020 - 12:59

The outbreak of bird flu in the South Urals was set up in the laboratory of the Uvelsky district, the press service of the department said.

    - The found carcasses of birds (wild duck and two domestic geese) taken from the shores of Peschanoe and Tabinsha lakes in the Uvelsky district were examined. All samples revealed material from the avian influenza virus subtype H5N8. In this regard, a survey of birds was carried out in this area. In disadvantaged settlements located near these lakes, quarantine has been established, epizootic foci and threatened zones have been identified. In disadvantaged areas, measures are being taken in accordance with the rules for combating avian influenza, - the press service of the Rosselkhonadzor department for the region reported.

Quarantine rules apply to both private bird owners and closed poultry farms.

As specified in the Rosselkhoznadzor administration, highly pathogenic avian influenza is an acute viral disease that affects agricultural and wild birds. All bird species are susceptible to influenza. The highly pathogenic H5N1 virus strain was introduced to Russia by wild migratory and waterfowl in 2005.

10 August 2020 13:33 State TV and Radio Company "South Ural"
Bird plague in the Southern Urals. Hundreds of birds have died from the virus

Avian influenza was detected in the Southern Urals 17 years later. The virus turned out to be so powerful that a large number of birds died on the lake in the Uvelsky district in a few days, and some domestic birds in the area.

On the way to the infected villages there is a traffic police post. Inspectors check the salons for poultry transportation. When leaving the danger zone, the wheels of the car are disinfected. Not far from the road, there is a disinfection barrier, which is periodically loosened and spilled. In the village of Peschanoe, veterinarians make rounds of farms, check the behavior of birds - this is the first sign of the H5N8 virus.

The detours of the villages began after a local resident found the corpses of four birds and one very strange one in the lake. Viktor Sladkov recalls: "I went out to the lake, I see - a wild bird is sitting on the shore, and its head is spinning. It cannot take off. I immediately realized that something was not right." The test results showed that bird flu was detected in the blood of geese and ducks. I got into the lake together with migratory birds.

Currently, two villages have been quarantined, reports the South Ural State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, which aired on the Russia 1 and Russia 24 TV channels.

The head of the veterinary department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the region, Sergey Tuzov, notes: “People react differently. if the bird is not removed, the virus will creep further. "

Specialists of the South Ural Veterinary Station emphasize that the current bird flu is rapidly mutating. It is not known how this will affect humans if H5N8 interacts with other viruses. Birds, for example, die instantly due to increased metabolism. Cold symptoms do not have time to appear and do not reach treatment. Either way, people who have poultry are asked to look after their health.
