    More than 36,000 animals have been slaughtered after an outbreak of highly contagious bird flu was detected at a Dutch poultry farm, the agriculture ministry said on Monday.

    "An outbreak of a variant of H5 bird flu has been detected in a poultry farm in Oldekerk, Groningen province," the ministry said in a statement, adding that it is "likely a highly pathogenic variant".

    Wageningen Bioveterinary Research characterized the virus as high pathogenic H5N6.
    In Oldekerk (provincie Groningen) is op zondag 25 februari 2018 bij een pluimveebedrijf vogelgriep vastgesteld. Wageningen Bioveterinary Research typeerde het virus als hoog pathogeen H5N6. Om verspreiding van het virus te voorkomen, wordt het bedrijf geruimd. In totaal gaat het om circa 36.000 vogels. In een straal van 1 kilometer rond het bedrijf liggen geen andere bedrijven. De ruimingen worden uitgevoerd door de Nederlandse Voedsel- en Warenautoriteit (NVWA).WA).

      je suis surpris d'apprendre ceci en ce lieu :
      Le sous-type H5N2 a ?t? trouv? dans un troupeau de 600 canards reproducteurs dans le nord du d?partement du Nord avant leur exportation pr?vue en Suisse.

        Epidemiological comments On 25 February 2018, a 3 km surveillance zone and a 10 km protection zone have been established. In the 3 km zone there are three other premises. All susceptible animals on the infected premises have been killed. All premises in the 3 km zone have been screened. All samples of the screened premises tested negative. This H5N6 subtype is a reassortment linked to H5N8 and not the Asian zoonotic H5N6.
