Rotterdam - Bird flu H5N6 at hobby holder Rhoon

    Jan 22, 2018

In animals belonging to a hobby holder in Rhoon, South Holland, highly pathogenic avian flu of the H5N6 type has been identified, the Poultry Association of LTO / NOP said Monday.

LTO / NOP renews its call for vigilance in the poultry sector. The new infection shows that the virus is still around, says LTO / NOP. "Vigilance and hygiene is required," emphasizes the representative. The hobby holder had various types of poultry. They are being culled.

    No additional restrictive measures

Because it is not a commercial farm, no additional restrictive measures are introduced, such as restriction zones. The hobby holder is also in a poultry-poor area. National measures such as the obligation to keep poultry inside, the ban on visitors / hygiene requirements, the ban on exhibitions for hobby birds and the litter protocol for duck farms have been in force since December.
Bij dieren van een hobbyhouder in Rhoon is hoogpathogene vogelgriep van het type H5N6 vastgesteld.
