    Bird flu in two farms of Padovano


    25 january 2017

    Avian influenza in a turkey farm in the hamlet of Corte. Ordered the slaughter of more than 22,000 specimens. After the first discovery of the virus in the Veneto, in a herd in Giare di Mira, which led to the order of cancellation of more than 20,000 turkeys, the alarm for another case, which this time involved the Padovano .

    To be affected were the sheds via Beverare, bordering the municipality of Campagna Lupia, which refer to farms Flaffy Ltd. and Santa Giorgia ss, headquartered in Vicenza.

    The positive outcome of the tests on the virus, specifically the H5N8 subtype, was informed by the Institute Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie Legnaro USL 6, that it informed the mayor Davide Gianella, competent health authority to sign the order abatement.

    Epidemiological comments The farm is located 9 km from the primary outbreak, within the surveillance zone. Increase in the average mortality rate was reported in recent days. The National Reference Laboratory has sequenced HPAI subtype H5N8.
