  • Greece reports Avian Flu H5N8 outbreak in poultry - Arcadia

    Arcadia within Greece

    17.01.2017 |

For avian influenza inform poultry farmers and backyard poultry holders of the Division of Animal Health Veterinary Department of the Region of Central Macedonia.

In a related announcement indicated that in 2016 there were numerous cases of avian influenza across Europe involving the highly pathogenic subtype H5N8 to farmed poultry and wild birds.

Based on the latest update of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, this subtype was detected in a swan 12/23/2016 at Evros Delta and 01.12.2017 in holding 28,000 hens egg production in Arcadia.

For the second case is expected to determine the pathogenicity of the strain. However, because of the acute stroke disease in the infected birds breeding, mortality touch over five days from the first loss of 100%, the estimate is that this highly pathogenic virus.
