The date of last occurrence of the H5N8 strain in Denmark is 05/05/2021.

    On December 13 2021, a Whooper swan (Cygnus cygnus) was found dead near Holstebro in the municipality Holstebro. On December 30 2021, Statens Serum Institute confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N8) in the samples from the swan.
