    AFFECTED POPULATION DESCRIPTION
    On July 4th 2021, a clinical suspicion was reported to the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration. The affected population was a poultry holding, producing eggs to slaughter chicken production. The holding consists of approximately 38000 animals. On July 5th 2021, highly pathogenic avian influenza (subtype H5N8) was confirmed by the national reference laboratory. A 3 km protection zone and a 10 km surveillance zone were established. The animals are planned to be culled on the July 7th 2021, and carcasses will be disposed of by rendering.

          On January 6 2021, a clinical suspicion (increased mortality) was reported to the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration. The population of the holding consist of approximately 100000 laying hens for egg consumption. On January 7 2022, highly pathogenic avian influenza (subtype H5N8) was confirmed by the national reference laboratory. The culling of all susceptible animals at the holding was completed on January 8, 2022. The cleaning and disinfection was approved by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration on January 11 2022.
