Information received on 02/05/2017 from Dr Per Starcke Henriksen, Chief Veterinary Officer, Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, Glostrup, Denmark
On January 2nd, a white-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) was found dead in Dejbjerg Plantage. On March 24th, the national veterinary institute confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N8) in the samples from the eagle.
On February 3rd, a common buzzard (Buteo buteo) was found in the forrest Egeskov. On February 13th, the national veterinary institute confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N8) in the samples from the buzzard.
On February 12th, a common buzzard (Buteo buteo) was found dead near Bregninge. On February 17th, the national veterinary institute confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N8) in the samples from the buzzard.

On February 12th, a peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus) was found dead near Husby Klitplantage. On February 22th, the national veterinary institute confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N8) in the samples from the falcon.
On March 3rd, a common buzzard (Buteo buteo) was found dead near the town Harbo?re. On March 10th, the national veterinary institute confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N8) in the samples from the buzzard.
On March 3rd, a common buzzard (Buteo buteo) was found dead near the town Holme-Olstrup. On March 9th, the national veterinary institute confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N8) in the samples from the buzzard.

On March 15th, a common eider (Somateria mollissima) and a herring gull (Larus argentatus) were found dead in the village Ommel on the Island ?r?. On March 24th, the national veterinary institute confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N8) in the samples from the birds.
On March 23rd, a common buzzard (Buteo buteo) was found dead in the forrest Kohave near the city N?stved. On March 29, the national veterinary institute confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N8) in the samples from the buzzard.
On March 27, a common buzzard (Buteo buteo) was found dead in Toftum. On April 7th, the national veterinary institute confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N8) in the samples from the buzzard.
On April 4th, a white-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) was found dead on ?bel?. On April 19th, the national veterinary institute confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N8) in the samples from the eagle.

In compliance with the letter of 26 December 2016 from the Director General, cases of infection with highly pathogenic influenza A viruses in birds other than poultry, including wild birds, detected since 1 January 2017 are notified in WAHIS to the OIE using the new disease name "Highly pathogenic influenza A viruses (infection with) (non-poultry including wild birds)". According to article 10.4.1.8 of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Member Countries should not impose bans on the trade in poultry and poultry commodities in response to notification on the presence of any influenza A virus in birds other than poultry.
